2023 Scholarship Recipients Announced

OMAC is pleased to announce Brooke Jones, Samantha Seelinger, and Zain Irani as the 2023 John A. Kowal Memorial Scholarship recipients! Please join us in congratulating the three winners, as they honor John and his contributions to the field he served for more than 20 years. A $5,000 tuition scholarship will be awarded to each winner.

Brooke Jones is studying Graphic Communications Management at Toronto Metropolitan University, in Toronto, Ontario. Brooke has completed an internship with Battlefield Press and is currently interning at Graphic Communications Colloquium, while maintaining a position on the Dean's Honor List. Additionally, Brooke is decorated with achievements in the packaging industry, most recently, Best Content Marketing Campaign (Silver). A post graduate career that involves packaging innovation, sustainability, material science and consumer experience, is expected.

Samantha Seelinger is studying Packaging Management at Michigan State University in
East Lansing, Michigan. As a student, Samantha has completed multiple packaging co-ops with Unilever and Johnson and Johnson, while maintaining a position on the Dean's Honor List. In addition, Samantha is a CoPPAC honors member. After graduation, Samantha intends to work as a packaging engineer for a consumer packaged goods company.

Zain Irani is studying Packaging Engineering at University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida. Zain's curiosity of the packaging industry led him to attend events such as PACK EXPO and participating in 48 Hour Repack which further solidified his interest in this dynamic field. In addition, Zain has maintained a position on the College of Engineering Dean's List. In the future, Zain sees himself working on the design and development of new packaging solutions that are both functional and sustainable.

The John A. Kowal Memorial Scholarship was established to carry on John’s legacy by identifying and rewarding students demonstrating a commitment to excellence within the packaging automation industry. Congratulations again, to Brooke, Samantha, and Zain on this deserving recognition!
